
Jackson Announces $2.9 million in Grants to Texas to Give at-risk Young People Careers Building Affordable Housing
Dec. 1, 2006 -- Young people who drop out of high school face a lifetime of underemployment and can be at higher risk of homelessness. However, thousands of these "at-risk" young people are looking forward to graduation and careers in homebuilding because of $45.5 million in grants announced today by Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson.

HUD Awards 1.8 million for affordable housing and economic development in rural Texas
Oct. 13, 2006 -- Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson today awarded announced the award of $1.8 million in grants to six rural communities in Texas to stimulate economic development, create jobs and produce more affordable housing. The funding is provided through HUD's Rural Housing and Economic Development Program.
