Mr. Currie is a graduate of Xavier University, and holds a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, and a Master of Divinity degree (M. Div) from the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio. Mr. Currie has over 25 years experience in community organizing, job training, and affordable housing development. He has founded two (2) non-profit organizations that have developed affordable housing inner city areas - the Westside of San Antonio and in the Fifth Ward of Houston, prior to accepting the Executive Director position with CDCB in April, 1993. As Executive Director of CDCB, CDCB has become the largest non-profit producer of single family housing for homeownership in the State of Texas, averaging over 200 new housing starts per year for the last five years. CDCB is the only local non-profit in the State of Texas to be a Fannie Mae Seller/Servicer, FHA Direct Endorsement Lender, and Rural Development Lender, and is the sole non-profit lending under the State of Texas Mortgage Revenue Bond program. Ms. Oceguera has been with CDCB since October, 1999. She has 18 years banking experience with Mercantile Bank in various areas of the bank, previously serving as the Loan Service/Credit Manager overseeing loan and credit operations for the bank. Ms. Oceguera oversees CDCB’s overall administration and loan operations including portfolio, correspondent, secondary market, and down payment assistance programs. She currently supervises seven employees. Greg Flores – Youthbuild Director. He is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas where he earned a B.A. in Philosophy. He also holds a Masters of Divinity from the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, Texas. He has four years experience as a Certified bilingual teacher with the Brownsville Independent School District. Since 1994, he has served as CDCB’s YouthBuild Program Director. Mr. Flores has previously served as the President of YouthBuild USA’s National Affiliated Network. Joel Garza – Construction Manager. Mr. Garza has more than twenty five years of experience in construction serving as a private sector contractor prior to joining CDCB. Mr. Garza oversees all CDCB construction and redevelopment activities including raw land infrastructure development; as well as contractor built Self Help, and Youthbuild Program Housing. For the last 13 years he has served as CDCB’s Construction Manager. Mr. Garza is a certified FHA inspector, and supervises a staff of eight (8).
